THE Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSF) has a fund-raising sticker campaign that will kick-off February, 1.
The HSF is a community-based NGO established in 1980 to create a future where South Africans adopt healthy lifestyles and to reduce the number of people who suffer or die from heart, stroke and blood-vessel disease.
In conjunction with Flora, they are having a Think Red Campaign an initiative, which brings together seven celebrities such as Mark Pilgrim, Robert Mawara, Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon, Michael Mol, Uyanda Mbuli, Kerishnie Naicker and Liezel van der Westhuizen. They all will share their stories of how cardiovascular disease (CVD) has personally affected them.
While age, gender and genetic make-up are risk factors that cannot be changed, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, smoking and physical inactivity are risk factors that can be controlled through an active lifestyle and a healthy, balanced diet.
In order to support the initiative, stickers concerning this drive can be purchased at R5 each.
