The Gilbert and Sullivan Society have announced that their major show, to be staged in May this year, will be the smash hit Evita by Andrew, Baron Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice.

They have secured the talents of PE’s own Chireen Ferreira to play Eva. Since starring in their 2007 production of Footloose, Chireen has toured internationally and become a seasoned professional.

Evita will be directed by Robin Williams with choreography by Candice Johnstone and musical direction by Richard Campbell.

David Limbert will create his lighting magic and Paula Martin will be Technical Manager.

For the rest of the cast, singing auditions will be held on Friday, February 24 from 6pm, and the dance audition on Saturday, February 25, at the Savoy Theatre. The cast of Evita calls for people of all ages, shapes and sizes, and experience is not required. They are looking for people who can sing their hearts out as well as singer/dancers. Everyone auditioning will need to do a singing and a movement audition although there are roles for non-dancers in the show.
