 Chantal van der Merwe (22) from Kirkwood loves a good challenge and being a semi-finalist in the Mrs South Africa 2010 competition is a magnificent "self challenge" whilst doing something good for her community.
Although she will get married only on the 24th April 2010 to Malan Smith, the organisers of the event said all is fine as long she is wedded by 22nd May 2010. This will be the day of the announcement of the Mrs SA 2010 finalists.
She was invited to take part in the Mrs SA competition through previously being a contestant in the Miss PE beauty pageant .
"I decided to give it a go as it gives me a chance to make a difference not only in my community through charitable events, but also on a wider scale with the assistance and guidance of the Mrs South Africa co-coordinators and mentors.
"My family, friends and future husband support me all the way and I would like to thank them. I would also like to thank my sponsors namely CJ+K Geyer, Chameleon Restaurant, DVD Wonderland and EC Finance," said Chantal.
Being a semi-finalist in the competition, she has to raise R10 000 through charitable events, which she has to plan and co-ordinate. Contestants will be judged on how they have managed their events.
Chantal planned two events. The first was a "Mother & Daughter" evening which was held yesterday. Her following event will be a golf day at the Kirkwood Golf Club on the 1st May 2010.
"I have to raise my R10 000 through these events! So, if anybody would like to support me and thereby our community, please do so and donate with your hearts," said Chantal.
